The Phil Kearny Civil War Round Table (PKCWRT) is an independent historical organization dedicated to studying the American Civil War (1861–1865), focusing on its military, political, and social impacts. Founded over 25 years ago as the 41st New Jersey Infantry Round Table, it was renamed to honor General Philip Kearny, a one-armed Civil War hero from New Jersey. Initially meeting at Barnes & Noble in Woodland Park, NJ, then at the Wayne Public Library, PKCWRT and later Hasbrouck Heights Library. We now hosts monthly Zoom meetings on the third Wednesday at 7:00 PM, with a summer break in July and August. These meetings feature historians, authors, and experts presenting on Civil War topics, followed by Q&A sessions. In November, the group organizes an annual field trip to Civil War battlefields with licensed guides, and in December, a Holiday Party with a special guest speaker or musician. Membership, which supports events and speaker stipends, is $25 per year and includes newsletters on recent and upcoming activities. The town of Kearny, NJ, was named in honor of General Kearny, who died at the Battle of Chantilly in 1862. Everyone is welcome to join and participate.
